High Fructose Corn Syrup & MERCURY

As you know, mercury is toxic.

But did you know that there is mercury in high fructose corn syrup?

HFCS (high fructose corn syrup) is a sugar substitute used in almost all packaged/canned/prepared foods.  It is often one of the first listed ingredients (and therefore makes up a good portion of the entire recipe).

In January 2009 news of mercury in HFCS broke.  You can read about it at reputable news sites.  I have posted links here.

We need to eat less processed foods, but when you do chose to eat these foods remember to look for sugar or cane sugar, molasses or other sweeteners.  Stay away from anything with HFCS.  Especially those of us with neuro- and auto-immune diseases.  Our children, also should not be eating this.
