I don't have my SSDI yet but I have heard a lot about this.  My mom is one person that is going through it.   I do know because of my hubby that if yours is the only income you can go to DHS and get QMB to pick up all your co-pays and some of your script co-pays.  It might be worth a shot to go apply anyway, all they can do is say no.  Just apply for whatever state insurance that is offered at the Department of Human Services.  We live in TN so it may be different in other states.

Oh, I have been...In Washington State; they said I made too much money...the feds say I have no income?

In Oregon, I can get $16 in food assistance and my Medicare premium paid.  I can take in self-pay receipts.  The city I live in is having issues with not accepting Medicare patients and the news reported issues with doctors refusing military/former military patients.  I am still working on it though...the U.S. health care drama...

Thank you so much for being so gracious and taking the time to reply!

    Hello,

I am unable to get medicare or ssi they say I am not sick enough. Plus with high cost of meds for Fibermylia, hypertenison, asthma and allegies meds that wouldn't even get me though the month. Right now my husband Doug is back to work and we have healthcare. But it still dosen't pay out pocket fibermylia meds or yearly physicals. We have to pay 500.00 out of pocket for me to get colonogy and other medical needs.

Myself I think we should have goverment run healthcare like the one in England, and Swissland dose.
