is it the same for you guys?

hello all Smile

i dont know if its the same for you guys in the states but here my gp will only speak to me about one thing per app and wont allow me to book a double app i.e. 20 min instead of 10min, so im waiting what feels like forever to chat about other issues.

Also sometimes im dubious about going to gp with various aches and pains as i end up putting it all down to fibro, how do you telll whats fibro and whats not?

Luckily my family doc wants to cover all issues when I'm there.  I started going back to him, despite the nasty "bill collector" at the front desk, because he always takes time for me.  Not all docs will, but he does.  He's an older man with a slower practice.  My fibro specialist never wanted to take much time with me.

Change doctors and tell him/her why you are changing.  I see a rheumatologist for arthritis and fibro.  I also see an orthopedic specialist for my arthritis.  I am very fortunate to have all doctors who listen.  I stop going to anyone who is not compatible  with my needs.    You have that right, you know.  Also, tell the new doctor why you changed.  The new one will pay attention to that.  My PCP oversees all my medical care and he knows from experience that if he does not address my issues I will go to someone who will.  I have been going to him since 1975.  Absolutely, stand up for yourself!  I try to be assertive, not agressive, and it works for me.  Research all your medical conditions and symptoms and be a patient who understands what the Dr. is talking about.  That really helps a great deal.  Good luck!

My rheumatologist is real good about this.Regular GP or PCP only allow ONE ailment at a time(and yes, 10 mins.). Normally my one ailment is 'chronic pain'.Try that for your ONE problem. LOL.
