how many of you get cold, then hot, then cold, then hot during the day???
i know i am constantly up and down temp wise.
but sometimes i have sweaters that are way too heavy. and othertimes its like i wrapped myself in tissue paper and im freezing!!!
a few months ago i got a wrap sweater on sale @ target. it is BY far my most favorite sweater EVERRRRRR! so much so that i have hunted down a pattern so i can make many many more
this is it:

i paid 12 bucks for it but its going for 17.99 online.
i often wear it like this

its so versitile, i even went into jcrew the other day and got compliments from the sales staff. im thinking...um..i paid 12 bucks..hahahhaha
but it does the job for me. not only is it a thin jersey but its comfy, which is key and also its very chic. i work in new york city, i see them EVERYWHERE.
here are more examples of this very fibro friendly sweater:

a prego version ( my best friend has this on in grey, and has had it for 5 years she often wears it as a coat! can you believe that! )

handmade ( not by me) version

old navy version:
(on sale online for 19.50)

so basically, not only will this keep you warm/cool, but if your a curvy girl like me, it will also hide the ole tummy and side area.
the front drapes so long that it makes the eye see you a bit longer than wider.

Hello darlings
miss me? yeah well, thank good ole fibrfog.
Today i thought, hmm i wonder if anyone here sews? and if they do..are they away that french seams are perfect for fibromyalgics.
So, in case you weren't sure, it IS the perfect seam. no stitches irritating you and no wishing you were home in your comfy fibro wear.
What are French Seams?
"A French seam is a type of sewing seam in which the raw ends of the fabric are tucked in, leaving a clean, polished, professional look. In addition to looking tidier, a French seam also protects delicate skin, and it prevents raveling of the fabric. Many seamstresses use French seams on lightweight fabrics, and these enclosed seams are relatively easy to create once one gets the hang of it."

Burdastyle has a great how to
So now you may be wondering...what if i don't sew..how is that going to help me?
EASY, im sure many of you already inspect your clothes before you buy them, but french or flat felled seams are a sign of great workmanship and that my friends means less skin irritations.
OK my darlings, im off to my sewing room and finish a bridesmaid dress im making for a friend... and yes dont fret, i will post images.

Alot of times when we think of tunics, we think of grandmothers in florida that spend too much time in the sun ( well when i was younger that is what came to mind)
BUT let me tell you, they are by far the quickest way to dress up a pair of jeans ( if you are one of the few that can still tolerate them) or leggings or even bare legged ( given that the tunic is long enough and you are not out flashing your bathing suit areas hahahah)
Ok, normally any tunic will do, right?
WRONG
Fibros have to really think of materials when looking for the right tunic.
cotton, cotton jersey, cotton gauze ( great for the summer heat), organic bamboo, i can go on and on, but i will save that for a different blog.
Tunics are also great because some of them have an arm hole that is more of a dolman sleeve and its not restricted nor is it full of extra fabric and stitching, which can be very annoying to us.
im going to show a few good tunics and a few bad ones.
ready? ok

this tunic is very nice, BUT there is a problem. its linen. linen is not very soft ( sometimes it is, but lets be honest here, on the rack linen is hardly ever soft)
BUT at the same time this style is very nice, comfortable, fashionable and verstile. Sexy yet modest yet doesnt scream out " hi i hate clothes cause they itch".
ps. linen sometimes itches. so even though this style is great, the material ...not so much.

I love this style, as a busty girl this gives me room to BREATHE. BUT here is where the problem lies...look at the sleeves
*GASP* elastic. on the arms.
OH NO NO NO NO
not only will that make us itchy, but if you are of the plus sized flavor ( like me) this is not a good look.
AVOID capped sleeves, elastic sleeves ( unless they are loose enough that wont cut into you).

OH, the hybird...a tunic dress.
Now in the right material ( soft silk jersey) this can be a great dress to go out on a date or whatever.
notice how the waist band isnt tight and the sleeves flow.
the material lets your skin breathe yet you do not look like a golden girls reject.
i have seen longer versions of this ( and i own a few) and its great to just pullover your head and go.
Cute and quick.and no annoying buttons or zippers to fuss with.

Ok i have a confession. i absolutely adore dolman sleeved ANYTHING.
why? cause its two seams and cut to perfection.
wear it loose and you dont look like you are prego , or smuggling a tent OR cinch it a little lower than your waist ( with a fibro friendly material of course) and you are good to go.
look how it flows. it naturally flows with your body, whether your thin or plus.
in the next coming weeks i will show you how to make one of these. so easy!!!

Ok while researching a bit i came across this.

This is what is considered "clothing for people with chronic pain"
looking like a reject from the golden girls...on lcd.
no i can't bear to look. ( but if you can its 35 bucks online @ some " dress ugly cause you are cick" website)
I have to take a stand on this...this..is not cool
I dont care how old you are, dressing like a tablecloth is not acceptable.
