Lunesta?

posted 31 months ago by moniquemarie

First of all, I would like to say that this stuff is expensive and I am glad I have insurance to pay for most of it. I was wondering if anyone has taken this or is taking it now. I have only been on it for 2 days. My doctor is trying to knock me out to get sleep because I only get 4 hours a night and then I am up. I am currently on a lose dose, but I also take 3 other medications to help me sleep plus one natural sleep medication. With all the stuff I am taking, I am not getting knocked out. I took Ambien before and all it did was make me goofy. So, what works for you when it comes to sleep, does Lunesta help? I can take up to 3 at night.

Monique, my doctor started me on Cymbalta in April, mostly for the Anxiety and Depression, but also because of the pain and sleeping. This really seems to help me.

One of the most important things to do is try to relieve some of the stress in your life and then some of your sleep may be restored...although, I only sleep about 6 hours a night and then I am up really really early, but I take a nap or two during the day.

I wish you all the luck in the world! :0)

My anti-depressant, Elavil (25mg night) is what helps me keep a stable sleep pattern. It took me about three months to really get my brain to cooperate but now, it's awesome. Giving a medication a real chance to work is key, i think. Give it at least 3 to 4 months before you make a decision about a sleep med. It takes a while for the brain to adapt to new instructions and create a new pattern.

I love ambien and nyquil. My doctor let me switch antidepressants and gave me 100mg amitryptilline (elavil). Whoa, I couldn't even speak in sentences, was hysterically crying. NUTSO! So thats out. Made me want to sleep all the time. Now, no antidepressant, which means I'm very emotional, but I can feel again.  Now, hoping for sleep again soon. Have you tried-Rozerem, trazadone, or OTC meds like melatonin, valarian, kava kava ( the last 2 are the benzos of herbal world). Ask your doc for samples of new meds before investing. Also, most sleep meds have offers of free week trials. Check with the pharmacy and then get doc to write it. good luck. I'm praying for some zzzzzzz's tonight.
